Professional Work History

  • Contracted as a sessional academic and research assistant to teach and develop curriculum across a number of fashion theory and history units.

    • Researching and developing curriculum to reflect contemporary discourse across fashion theory and practice.

    • Delivering guest lectures on areas of expertise such as contemporary masculinity and menswear; historical menswear; tailoring and queering design practice.

  • Contracted to develop and revise their Styling and Creative Direction subject, as part of the Bachelor of Business (Fashion and Global Brand Management) degree.

    My responsibilities included developing subjects according to TEQSA certified learning outcomes, university styles and standards, and industry best practices. Developed for blended learning.

    Subsequent to the completion of this development, I was contracted as a sessional lecturer on the subject.

    In 2022, I have been contracted to develop a micro-credential for Fashion Marketing students to develop their knowledge around making, construction, textiles, and communication to increase their chances of entrepreneurial success.

  • In this role, I was responsible for the development of design and technical making units for the first Fashion and Sustainability bachelor’s degree in Australia.

    Other responsibilities include:

    • Writing units in accordance with TEQSA standards, unit learning outcomes as well as keeping up with relevant fashion and sustainability discourse and best practices. Adapting course content for in-person and online delivery.

    • Undertaking teaching responsibilities such as providing timely, relevant, and meaningful feedback to students and communication with students, updating LMS platforms, and improving materials in response to student feedback.

    • Coordinating units across the course, leading, managing, and supporting sessional staff with teaching and marking responsibilities, and monitoring performance.

  • Responsible for providing guidance to a student on the completion of a project unit as part of the JMC Masters of Creative Industries.

    My responsibilities included:

    • Discussing the technical methods proposed in the Master’s project, and ensuring the relevance and scope of the project to fit fashion industry best practices.

    • Responsible for helping the student to situate their work within the field of practice-led research through discussions of theories of practice, identifying appropriate research methods, and providing relevant and timely feedback.

  • In this role, I was responsible for teaching and guest lecturing across the following types of units:

    • Skills-based design and communication units, particularly practical fashion design studio based units, fashion and design theory and history units.

    • Foundation design history units, Research Methods for students entering postgraduate studies, interdisciplinary design and creative thinking.

    • Project-based units such as Fashion and Style Journalism, off-campus design intensives for interdisciplinary design core units, and Work Integrated Learning units for industry-based learning.

    • Research assistant for Dr Alice Payne in the area of fashion and sustainability.

    • Collaborating with the head designer on the design development of key national and international menswear collections

    • Management of international manufacturers from China, Peru, Mauritius, Turkey, and Bangladesh to develop garments from initial design, through the sampling process to large-scale manufacture for sale in Australia, New Zealand, and the USA.
